A new generation is stepping in, and with it comes a new beginning. In the heart of Amsterdam, a new day café and bistro of 129 m² is set to open its doors in the near future. The project is housed within a historic corner building dating back to 1745, located on the vibrant Nieuwendijk.

Studio Modijefsky approaches this project through a careful study of its context and the concept, exploring the architectural heritage and urban surroundings as a foundation for the design. With respect for the building’s character and past, by creating a dialogue between what is there and what is to come. The ambition is to design a beautiful timeless interior where atmosphere, functionality, and identity come together. The interior design will be characterized by several distinctive elements: an inviting and recognizable façade with an enticing entrance, a bar on both the ground floor and the first floor and various seating areas across both levels. The mezzanine level will house the restrooms, subtly integrated into the overall spatial flow.

This is not just a renovation, it is a new chapter shaped by materials, light, shapes, and the rhythms of a contemporary day café and bistro. A place where heritage is honoured, and where past and present are carefully woven together into a renewed hospitality experience.
